Strathcarron Hospice understands the value of living life to the full. Patients and families are welcomed by our incredible team with warm hearts and helping hands. It is not easy to work every day in an emotional and challenging environment but our staff find it very rewarding and the Hospice is certainly not a sad depressing place to be.
Of course it is important that everyone does their job well, but recent much publicised evidence suggests that if people have fun at work they are more productive, and from time to time our staff just do something that is fun – sometimes to cheer up our patients and sometimes just for the sheer fun of being a bit silly. Our year is punctuated by dressing up opportunities from Christmas elves to Easter bunnies! The Hospice does benefit from a more happy, motivated and productive workforce. And so when NHS Forth Valley nominated us for the “Running Man” Challenge on facebook we hit back with a BOOM! All departments took on the challenge. Our nurses, fundraisers, domestics, education colleagues and doctors all gathered outside the front entrance to film our own version of the new internet trend. We added a short run-around section in the style of Benny Hill and one of our nurses, with a broken toe, had to be carried! The results have been amazing, with nearly 47,000 views, 633 shares and a countless number of likes on Facebook we are delighted and it has certainly brought a smile to our faces. Hospices are surprising places.
Don’t forget if you haven’t seen our fantastic and hilarious running man challenge you should check it out on our Facebook page. It won’t disappoint!
